Sunninghill Gardens Security comprises of the following:
- Access monitoring at the two entrances to the Gardens. Boom guards, who record all non-member vehicles entering the area by recording the vehicles details, number of occupants in the vehicles etc.
- All non-member vehicles are signed in on an entrance register and issued with an access card. Upon exiting the area this access card has to be returned to the security officer. This allows the security officer to observe the occupants of the vehicle and delays the vehicle long enough to enable the CCTV camera’s to capture the details of the vehicle and driver.
- Each entrance has 4 live monitored CCTV cameras. There are cameras that capture the registration number of all vehicles entering and exiting the area. There are also camera’s that capture the face of the driver of each vehicle when they receive and hand in access cards.
- There are a further 6 live monitored CCTV cameras in the streets of Sunninghill Gardens.
- In addition to the above we have a 24-hour dedicated pro-active patrol vehicle. This Savika Armed Response patrol vehicle patrols the streets of the area looking for any suspicious pedestrians and vehicles. Should they observe any such person or vehicle, they stop and question them and if necessary escort them out of the area.
- The boom guards and the Controllers who monitor the live CCTV cameras are in constant radio contact with the dedicated patrol vehicles. Should the boom guards or controllers notice anything of a suspicious nature, they immediately contact the dedicated patrol vehicle so that he can investigate.
- The dedicated patrol vehicle has a backup vehicle permanently based in Sunninghill should he need assistance.
All members of Sunninghill Gardens contribute a security levy to the Sunninghill Gardens Homeowners Association. This money is used to pay for the access monitoring at the entrances, the monitoring of the CCTV cameras as well as the dedicated Savika Armed Response patrol vehicle. As a result of this, those who wish to have armed response linked to this dedicated vehicle only have to pay a monitoring fee to Savika. This amounts to around half the normal armed response fee.
Sunninghill Gardens Security works very closely with Sunninghill Community Security, the Sandton SAPS, the Metro Police and of course Savika Armed Response. Pro-active Policing is done and many crime prevention operations are performed in the area and in other parts of Sunninghill in order to prevent crime from occurring.
The results are plain to see. Sunninghill Gardens has one of the lowest crime rates in the entire Sandton Policing district.
Our membership of around 96% allows us to keep our levies down to a very reasonable rate and gives us the security that permits our residents to walk, jog in the area and enables our children to have the freedom to enjoy our area and our 19000m² park in safety.
